A Holiday Musical Based on a True City
As we depart from the musical parody world of Truthical and Chasing Lights, we are thrilled to embark on a new journey based on a true city—Christmas City, U.S.A (aka Bethlehem, Pennsylvania)!
The show opens with Elleanor traveling to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on Christmas Eve. She can’t wait to explore this wonderful town that is devoted to celebrating Christmas ... plus, there’s a deeply personal tie related to her ancestry.
As she is en route, Elleanor meets Nikolaus, a native of Bethlehem that left years ago and is reluctantly returning in order to spend Christmas with his aunt Holly—the director of the Bethlehem Tourism Bureau—who has raised Nikolaus since he was orphaned at the age of 10.
Once Elleanor and Nikolaus arrive, they set off on a trolley tour of the town (along with a colorful crew of other characters) and learn more about this special city with a longstanding, close tie to American history while also getting to know each other better. Elleanor’s perspective on life and faith gradually has a deep and lasting impact on both Nikolaus and Holly.
With flashback scenes, displays coming to life (due to Elleanor’s vivid imagination), and massive musical numbers, this show moves at a quick pace while going through moments of humor, sadness, and inspiration. Ultimately, the show is about dealing with your past, opening up your heart, and receiving the hope that Jesus brought to the world at Christmas.
The show is LIVE at our Southlake Campus, admission is FREE but seat reservations are required. (Performances will be broadcast at all Gateway Campuses over the weekend.)
